Hand-spun fibre items deserve special care to maintain their softness and longevity.
Generally, gentle handwashing in cool water with a wool-specific detergent is recommended. Avoid wringing or twisting the item, as this can damage the fibres and stretch the item out of shape. Instead, gently press out excess water. For drying, lay the item flat on a dry towel and reshape it to its original form. Avoid hanging woollen items to dry as this can stretch them.
Store your precious hand-spun pieces in a cool, dry place, protected from light to prevent colour fading. To prevent moths from eating your item we suggest storing it in a calico bag that can be tied shut. The addition of a couple of moth balls or camphor balls will add extra security.
With proper care, your hand-spun garments will bring you joy for years to come.

Proper care of natural timber spinning wheels and accessories is essential to preserve their beauty and longevity.
Regular dusting with a soft cloth removes harmful particles that can scratch or stain the surface. Avoid placing timber items in direct sunlight, as this can cause fading and cracking.
Spills should be cleaned up immediately to prevent water damage. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth, then dry thoroughly. To maintain the wood's natural oils and protect against dryness, consider applying a wood conditioner, wax, or polish. Follow the instructions as recommended by the manufacturer of the treatment.
Regularly oil all moving parts with a light machine oil. Do not apply excessive amounts of oil or it may stain the timber. It is always best to tip the item so that the oil will seep downwards into the appropriate place. Wipe off excess oil with a clean absorbent cloth.
By following these simple steps, you can enjoy your timber pieces for years to come.
